History of the Expo:
The first annual Expo in Spring of 2003 included booth presentations and breakout sessions by 50 company representatives as well as a keynote address by Rhode Island's Governor Donald Carcieri. The event was attended by more than 400 Brown students and alumni from the undergraduate, medical, and graduate schools. Additionally, many senior members of the Brown Administration and Rhode Island’s government were in attendance. It was widely regarded as a huge success.
The Expo grew for the next three years, with last year's Expo culminating with a keynote address by US Representative James Langevin, a staunch stem cell supporter. The year before was anchored by Dr. Joshua Boger, CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals.
